How To: Get started with Gmail

Are you ready to retire your 16 year old AOL e-mail address and join the 21st century? Try Gmail. Seriously, you won’t regret it. It doesn’t matter whether you are using AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, or something else. You will like Gmail more. It’s intuitive, works well with the iPhone, the iPad, and Android devices, and there is plenty of free storage.

Ready to get started? Don’t worry, it’s super easy!

Step 1: Go to http://www.gmail.com.

Step 2: Click “Create an Account” in the top right.

Step 3: Fill in your info. The CAPTCHA (hard to read text you have to copy) can be pretty annoying, but it prevents people from coding bots that automatically create Gmail accounts.

Step 4: Click Next step.

Step 5: You can add a profile photo if you want, but it’s not necessary. Click Next step.

Step 6: Click Continue to Gmail.

Step 7: That’s it – you’re finished! Welcome to Gmail! Be sure to read the four e-mails from Google that are in your inbox. They help with some customizing that you may want to do.
