Yes boys and girls, you can now start preparing to camp out in front of your nearest Apple store. The new iPad 2 has been officially announced today at a high-security event here at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
Some improvements include a new A5 processor that’s up to nine times faster than the iPad 1, as well as a new graphics chip that’s two times faster than the original. Plus, we now have an 1080P HDMI output for connecting to your flat panel display.
Also, the new iPad went on a diet and is now 33% thinner… even thinner than the iPhone 4 at only 8.8mm. Other features added are front and rear cameras for FaceTime chat, PhotoBooth, internal gyroscopes, nifty new magnetic cases, and a new color option: White.
Best of all, the price stays the same with the entry level iPad starting at $499 and the 3G version will be offered by Verizon.
Now go get your tent, black turtle neck, credit card, and head over to your nearest Apple store!
